The terms that apply when you use Spikemark: a practice tool for stage management students and teachers, not a course, a qualification or a production record.
What this is
Spikemark is a practice tool for learning to take blocking in shorthand and to call cues. It is not production software and not a certification. Spikemark is a practice tool, not a substitute for a stage management course or for the conventions of your own production. The certificate of practice records practice; it is not a qualification.
The scenes
Every scene is an excerpt from a public domain play on Project Gutenberg, cited by its ebook number. The staging, the ground plans and the cues are invented for practice. The prompt book page, cue sheet and run sheet are Spikemark's own layouts, and every guide is written in our own words.
Conventions and attribution
Blocking notation and calling have no single governing standard. Spikemark teaches common practice in its own words and grades against the notation key you set. Where your teacher, stage manager or company works differently, follow them. Spikemark is not affiliated with any performers' or stage managers' union or association, any play publisher or licensing house, or any school or theatre.
What is free
The daily blocking drill, every Trifles scene, the notation key, the guides, the FAQ, the blank prompt book pages and your running totals are free with no account and stay that way. In this build everything else is free too. Nothing on the free list will be moved behind a payment.
No account, and your progress
There is nothing to sign up for. Anything the site remembers is stored by your own browser on your own device, which means it can be cleared by you at any time, cannot be recovered by us, and does not follow you to another device. Treat any score you see here as a note to yourself rather than as a record anybody else can verify.
Refunds
Not happy with a purchase? Email socialreminderinfo@gmail.com within 14 days of a first purchase, or within 7 days of a renewal, and we will refund it. Send the message from the email address you used at checkout, and include:
- the email address used at checkout (if you are writing from a different address)
- your access code, shown on the Premium page while you are subscribed on the browser you purchased from
- roughly when you purchased, and which plan (yearly or lifetime)
- the last 4 digits of the card, if you have the receipt handy
That is everything needed to find the purchase and process the refund. This policy does not limit any statutory rights you may have.
Acceptable use
Use the site for learning and teaching, including projecting it at an association clinic. Do not scrape it at a rate that degrades it for other people, do not present its scenes as your own work.
Warranty and liability
The site is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind. To the extent the law allows, Spikemark is not liable for any loss arising from the use of the site or from reliance on anything on it. A score here is a self assessment, not a qualification or a sign off by any school or company.
Contact
Questions, a note that reads wrongly, or a report that a note or a cue is graded wrongly all go to the support address in the footer. A graded answer that contradicts the rulebook is a defect and gets fixed.
